After painting the 2016 iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus for a cause, Cupertino tech major Apple is now expected to unveil the red-hued iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus, possibly today.
According to a report by MacRumors, an internal memo led out to Virgin Mobile hints at the existence of the smartphones in collaboration with (PRODUCT) RED.
For those who don’t know, (PRODUCT) RED is an initiative, which came into being back in 2006 in order to battle against HIV/AIDS, for which Apple has been a supporter.
While the memo doesn’t reveal when the smartphones will up for grabs, it suggests that after the unveiling the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus will be available for pre-orders. Additionally, a red iPhone X didn’t appear anywhere in the memo, therefore we might not see any.
To recall, the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus come with a 4.7-inch Retina HD LCD display and a 5.5-inch Retina HD LCD display, respectively and have A11 Bionic chipsets. The smartphones come in two internal storage options- 64GB and 256GB.
On the camera front, the iPhone 8 has a 12-megapixel rear shooter with Quad-LED True-tone flash, OIS, digital zoom up to 5x, while the front-facing snapper is rated at 7-megapixel with Retina flash. While the iPhone 8 Plus houses a dual-camera setup (12-megapixel each) at the back, and the same front camera as the iPhone 8.
The smartphones support wireless charging and run iOS 11. Additionally, the devices are accompanied by fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button, and dust and water resistance.
