Xiaomi recently unveiled the Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro smartphones in India, and now the company is set to unveil a new smartphone, as teased via the recently unveiled Mi TV’s Launch Show video on YouTube.
The video, in the end teases the launch of a new smartphone (expected to be the Redmi 5) in India at an event scheduled for March 14. While the video doesn’t reveal anything about the device, the glimpse of the smartphone hints at its metal unibody.
The Redmi 5, launched recently in China sports a 5.7-inch HD+ display with a pixel density of 282ppi, and is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor clocked at 1.8GHz. The smartphone comes in two RAM/ROM variants: 2GB RAM/16GB ROM and 3GB RAM/32GB ROM.
In the camera department, the smartphone houses a 12-megapixel rear shooter with dual-tone LED flash and PDAF, while the front-facing camera stands at 5-megapixel featuring soft flash. The Redmi 5 gets its fuel from a 3,200mAh battery and runs the company’s MIUI 9.0 based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat.
Additionally, the device is accompanied by a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and comes in Black, Gold, Light Blue, and Rose Gold colour variants.
Xiaomi Redmi 5 also has an elder sibling, dubbed the Redmi 5 Plus with a bigger 5.99-inch full HD+ display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, two RAM/ROM variants: 3GB RAM/32GB ROM and 4GB RAM/64GB ROM, and backed by a bigger 4,000mAh battery, with the remaining specs same as the Redmi 5.
However, there is no word whether or not the Redmi 5 Plus will arrive in India alongside the Redmi 5. Therefore, stay tuned for more information.
