Xiaomi Redmi 5 now has a new variant
Xiaomi has launched a new RAM/ROM variant of the recently unveiled Redmi 5 in China. The new variant comes with an increased 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
The new RAM/ROM configuration of the Redmi 5 is in addition to the existing 2GB RAM/16GB ROM (for CNY 799 or Rs 7,800) and 3GB RAM/32GB ROM (priced at CNY 899 or Rs 8,800) and comes with a price tag of CNY 1,099 (around Rs 11,060).
In terms of the specs, the Redmi 5 features a 5.7-inch HD+ display with a pixel density of 282ppi and is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor clocked at 1.8GHz. In the camera department, the smartphone houses a 12-megapixel rear shooter with dual-tone LED flash and PDAF, while the front-facing camera stands at 5-megapixel featuring soft flash.
The Redmi 5 gets its fuel from a 3,200mAh battery and runs the company’s MIUI 9.0 based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat. Additionally, the device is accompanied by a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and comes in Black, Gold, Light Blue, and Rose Gold colour variants.
To recall, the elder sibling of the Redmi 5, dubbed the Redmi 5 Plus was also launched alongside. It comes with a bigger 5.99-inch full HD+ display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, two RAM/ROM variants: 3GB RAM/32GB ROM and 4GB RAM/64GB ROM, and backed by a bigger 4,000mAh battery. It comes with same camera configuration as the Redmi 5.
