With an aim to offer budgeted smartphones, Tecno Mobile, the subsidiary of Hong Kong-based Transsion Holdings, has announced the debut of its “Spark” series with the launch of two new smartphones for the Indian consumers.
Priced at Rs 5,499, the Tecno Spark Go aims to take on the likes of Redmi 7A and other brands in the sub-Rs 6,000 category. Globally, the smartphone has earned accolades and is among the most promising smartphones to make it to the Indian shores.
As there’s so much happening in the budget smartphone segment, let’s figure out the first impression of Tecno Spark Go.
What’s in the box?
The box consists of a smartphone, charger, adaptor and user manual. That’s not it; users will also get a complementary Oraimo Bluetooth earpiece, worth Rs 799.
The smartphone features a 6.1-inch HD+ Dot Notch screen with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 85 percent screen to body percentage, screen resolution 720×1560, 450 nits, 283 PPI (Pixel Density). The device features a plastic body on its back and has a removable battery option. The volume and power key are placed on the right edge, the 3.5mm jack and charging slot is placed on the bottom edge. The device has glossy looks but unfortunately, we found a lot of smudge within a few minutes of using the device.
The smartphone sports 8MP artificial intelligence (AI)-Camera with Night algorithm 2.0; (F/2.0) and dual flash. It also features Bokeh Mode, AI HDR, AI Beauty, AR Shot, AI Auto Scene Detection, supports 4X Digital Zoom and Panorama.
On the front, the device has 5 MP AI Selfie Camera with Flash and also features AI Cam, AI Portrait Mode, AI Beauty, HDR Mode, AR Shot, Wide Mode, adjustable Front Flash.
The quick photo session delivered very basic images on both bright light conditions and low light conditions. The point is you can’t expect much at this price point.
The smartphone is powered by Helio A22 (MTK 6761)2.0 GHz 64-bit Quad-Core Processor and paired with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage that is expandable up to 256GB. The device runs HiOS 5.0 based on Android 9. At this price point, the RAM and internal storage both seem to be rightly placed.
The smartphone comes with the dual-SIM option and supports dual LTE, WIFI 802.11 b/g/n/, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS, AGPS. The phone offers face unlock feature but there’s no fingerprint option available. The device houses a removable 3,000mAh battery, which we feel can last around a day on a single charge.
Our quick review of the device suggests that Tecno Spark Go is a complete entry-level smartphone which will be beneficial for those who aren’t looking for high-end features. To know more about the smartphone, you will have to wait for the full review.
