In the Q4 2017, Jio feature phone has gained a market share of 26 percent leaving Samsung and Micromax at second and third spot with 15% and 9% market share
This Republic day Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Jio has unleashed its cheapest 4G data pack for the consumers that will offer 1GB 4G data for a period of 28 days at just Rs 49. Also, it has launched the a special add-ons for its newly launched Jio phones at Rs. 11, Rs. 21, Rs. 51, and Rs. 101.
The plan was announced after it decided to offer additional 500MB data on the non-Jio Phone plans offering 1GB and 1.5GB data per day. The Jio feature phone was launched last year in July coupled with added services such as as JioMusic, JioTV, and JioCinema.
Tarun Pathak, Counterpoint Associate Director said, “Reliance Jio captured a 26 percent share of the feature phone segment in just one quarter with its compelling value proposition compared to the normal 2G feature phones.”
“The telco exited the quarter with some inventory in the fourth quarter that could affect its share in the coming quarters,” added Pathak.
In the Q4 2017, Jio feature phone is the highest selling feature phone in India, claims Counterpoint Research. The feature phone has surpassed Micromax and Samsung. The former gained a total share of 26 percent, thereby leaving the latter at third and second position with 9 percent and 15 percent share, respectively, claims Counterpoint.
The Jio feature phone sports a 03.MP selfie sensor and a 2MP primary camera and is powered by a 2000 mAh battery. The phone is backed by a 1.2GHz dual-core chipset coupled with 512MB RAM.
