Facebook Messenger’s lighter variant- Messenger Lite which is meant for low-end smartphones and low internet connectivity has received the video calling feature for Android users.
Facebook, in its blog post said, “Video chats are an expected and essential part of everyday communication in today’s messaging experience. Chatting face-to-face live is perfect for those moments when you want to see and hear the voices of people you care about most – whether you’re wishing someone a happy birthday, you have some great news to share, or you spontaneously want to catch up on the day. Today we’re thrilled to introduce video chat in Messenger Lite, a slimmed down version of Messenger for Android.”
Face-to-face calling on Messenger Lite is much like the one on original Messenger app. You are simply required to update the Messenger Lite app to the latest version and tap the video call icon on the upper right corner present within a chat box of any person you wish to talk face-to-to face. Additionally, you get the ability to switch from an ongoing audio call to video call by clicking the video call icon on the bottom right corner.
Furthermore, Facebook Messenger Lite allows you to send text, photos, links, and audio calls to other people and is under 10MB in size.
The new updated Facebook Messenger Lite has started rolling out.
