Among the various smartphones being introduced during this year’s MWC, Vivo has come with an innovative concept smartphone, dubbed the Vivo Apex.
The concept smartphone features the new Half-Screen In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology, after the recently unveiled under-the-display fingerprint scanning at CES 2018.
The Vivo Apex comes with a never-seen-before screen-to-body ratio rated at 98 per cent and allows for fingerprint scanning anywhere over the display, occupying more than half the area for the biometric authentication.
Alex Feng, Senior Vice President of Vivo said, “APEX™ is an iteration of our constant pursuit of setting new industry standards and to deliver the ultimate mobile experience. From breakthroughs in audio, photography to In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology, Vivo has remained committed to realizing our vision for future smartphones. What we showcase in this concept phone is only a fraction of our innovation pipeline. We will continue to explore all possibilities to bring the best possible experiences to our consumers.”
The technology based on OLED display panels allows for really thin bezels. The concept smartphone comes with Screen SoundCasting Technology which converts the entire display into a speaker by sending vibrations through the screen. Additionally, the Vivo Apex features a retracting camera rated at 8-megapixel which rises in 0.8 seconds and goes back after use.
However, there is no word on whether or not the concept smartphone turns into a product.
