We might not get to see the Motorola Moto X5

With rumours flying in that Lenovo-owned Motorola intends to sack around half of its workforce in Chicago, it is suggested that the next-gen smartphone in its Moto X series- the Moto X5 might not see the light of the day.

According to a recent report, Motorola is expected to fire in its engineering team in the Chicago-based office by April 6 this year.

Motorola, according to the report stated, “In late 2017, Lenovo announced a worldwide resource action that would occur over the next several quarters, and impacting less than two percent of its global workforce. This week’s employment reductions are a continuation of that process. We are reducing our Motorola operations in Chicago however this did not impact half of our workforce there and our Moto Z family will continue.

While the Lenovo-owned company has reportedly dropped the launch of the successor to the Moto X4, Motorola plans to focus on the Moto Z, Moto E and the Moto G series. Additionally, the company speculated to limit itself to basic Moto Mods such as battery packs and style covers.

However, Motorola hasn’t let out anything official regarding the layoff as well as the Moto X5. To know what Motorola plans to do, stay tuned to My Mobile.
