Microsoft detects a novel mobile ransomware: Report

Microsoft Surface Duo

Microsoft has announced that it has detected a new sophisticated malware that encrypts devices, instead of files and disables users from doing anything on a touch interface enabled smartphone.

So, all those users who have been infected by such malware have no other choice rather than to pay the ransom or throw their mobile–albeit the risk that they might lose the loaded data on a permanent note.

Microsoft says that the novel Android Mobile Ransomware was detected by Microsoft Defender for Endpoint solution in May this year and has since then evolved into many sophisticated tactics as they developers have drafted it into a highly customizable solution.

Redmond based tech company Microsoft has stated that the ransomware is been currently circulated through gaming websites and online forums using various social engineering techniques including masking as popular video games, and betting sequences.

Microsoft Defender is said to be the only one solution that is been able to detect the newly developed malware as it is powered by deep learning techniques along with cloud-based big data skills.
