Google introduces new features to Google Maps in India

Google has introduced a couple of new features to Google Maps in India. The list includes the new Plus Codes, Voice Navigation in new languages, and Add an Address, and Smart Address Search features.

Starting with the Plus Codes, the new feature makes searching addresses in India and globally easy with the help of a unique code allotted to various addresses. All the user need to do is enter the unique code for any particular place on Google Search or Google Maps, and the address will be displayed.

Krish Vitaldevara, Product Lead, Google Maps Next Billion Users said, “India continues to inspire us, and pushes us to reimagine what Maps can do for people. And we are just getting started as we continue to build features and expand our partnerships to make the Google Maps experience more comprehensive, accurate, and reliable for our users.

Additionally, the Add an Address feature allows users to add addresses to the Google Maps database after verification, while the Smart Address Search feature provides users with the most accurate location of an address when the actual address is unknown, for which the referral information such as a nearby landmark, business or a locality is required.

Furthermore, the voice navigation in Google Maps is now available in sex additional Indian languages, namely, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam.
