Red is the colour of season – especially when it comes to new smartphones!

It seems like red is the colour of the season as various tech companies went the red road, painting their smartphone in the colour symbolic of hot. Today, with Christmas approaching just too fast, we have a short list of smartphones, REDiliciously hot, you might want to consider for Christmas!

Xiaomi Mi A1: The latest smartphone getting REDified is the Xioami Mi A1 in the mid-range. Xiaomi’s first to come with Android One by Google, the smartphone has dual cameras as its second highlight. The dual cameras at the back are rated at 12-megapixel each with camera features such as Beautify 3.0, Smart Beauty, Portrait mode, and 2X optical zoom. At the front, there is a 5-megapixel camera with real-time beautification mode.

The display spans 5.5-inch being a full HD one and comes with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage. It is backed by a 3,080mAh and runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat. Additionally, there is a fingerprint scanner at the back of the Mi A1.

OnePlus 5T: The recently launched successor of the OnePlus 5 is the OnePlus’ first to hop on the bezel-less bandwagon with some tweaks, differentiating it with its predecessor. The device has a 6.01-inch full HD+ Optic AMOLED screen with an aspect ratio rated at 18:9, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6GB RAM.128GB ROM, a 3,300mAh battery and Android 7.1 Nougat with ColorOS skin, all this making a must-buy smartphone for a price tag not too long.

The camera department features the same 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel dual rear cameras, with the latter coming with the changed aperture of f/1.7 and the absence of 2x zoom. The front-facing snapper, rated at 16-megapixel has been improved for low-light photography using Intelligent Pixel Technology. Another change is the fingerprint scanner’s residence which is now at the back. However, the Lava red OnePlus 5T is exclusive to China.

Samsung Galaxy S8: Christmas came early for Samsung as the South Korean company a few months back came up with the Burgundy Red colour of the savior flagship- the Galaxy S8. The smartphone which is currently available in South Korea has all the specs sharing a resemblance with the original S8. This one too comes with Samsung’s Infinity display, rated at 5.8-inch, with an aspect ratio of 18:9, with Quad HD Super AMOLED display panel.

There is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable inbuilt storage, and a 3,000mAh battery. The camera department comprises dual pixel 12-megapixel rear shooter with autofocus and OIS, and an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper. The smartphone supports Bokeh via its Live Focus feature.

Samsung Galaxy S8

Price: Around $900 (or Rs 57,700)

Xiaomi Mi 5X: The newly launched Mi 5X, soon after its entry got a special edition red colour variant. With dual rear cameras, rated at 12-megapixel each and a 5-megapixel front snapper, the smartphone supports Bokeh effect and real-time beautification feature. It comes with 5.5-inch full HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of onboard storage, a 3,080mAh battery and runs MIUI 9.0 based on Android 7.0 Nougat.

Price: CNY 1,499 or Rs 14,200

Honor V10: The recently unveiled Honor V10 didn’t get special edition in red but was among the four colour variants. The USP of the smartphone is in the form of its FullView, bezel-less display, standing at 5.99-inch with full HD+ resolution and an aspect ratio rated at 18:9. Another highlight is the dual-camera setup at the back, rated at 20-megapixel (monochrome) and 16-megapixel (RGB) with LED flash, PDAF, and CAF, while the one at the front stands at 16-megapixel and supports AI-based selfie portraits.

Currently available in China, the Honor V10 has a Kirin 670 processor, a 3,750mAh battery with fast charging tech, and runs the latest Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 on top. It has three RAM/ROM variants- 4GB RAM/64GB ROM, 6GB RAM/64GB ROM, and 6GB RAM/128GB ROM, and is accompanied by facial recognition and fingerprint sensor.
