Now, the Aadhaar authority has confirmed to introduce the mAadhaar app in the iOS platform as well. However, when launched, the app was only available for Android users that can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
UIDAI, the statutory body that issues Unique Identification numbers (UID), named as “Aadhaar”, to all residents of India has launched its first official app mAadhaar for aadhaar users back in July last year.
Ajay Bhushan Pandey, CEO, UIDAI, during an AMA session couple of days back, assured to introduce the official app for all the iOS mobile devices, but the authority is yet to proclaim the official launch date of the app on iOS. “mAadhaar for iOS is going to be out soon,” said Mr. Pandey.
The app is furnished with enhanced security patterns like biometric locking/unlocking, which then remains locked unless the user choose to unlock it. The mAadhaar is also equipped with important information such as name, date of birth, gender and user’s photograph that is linked with his/her Aadhaar details.
Furthermore, the app also has TOTP (Time-based one-time password) and the temporary password generated from there can be utilized in place of SMS-based OTP. Then, people can successfully update their profile information.
To use this app, people need to download it from Play Store/App Store and then they have to insert their aadhaar number and then they can also scan QR code present on their Aadhaar card as well.
