Xiaomi is preparing for the global rollout of its upcoming Redmi smartphones ahead of the Redmi Note 17 series launch in China on July 14. While the Chinese lineup is set to debut next week, several global variants of the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi 17 have now appeared on certification platforms across different markets hinting that international launches may not be far away.

The latest certifications reveal that Xiaomi is working on both 4G and 5G versions of these smartphones with the 5G variants also making progress towards an India launch.

This isn’t the first time the device has surfaced online. Earlier, the phone and its regional variants with model numbers 26012RN62Y and 26012RN62L were spotted in the GSMA IMEI database. Since then, the 26012RN62Y variant has also appeared on Singapore’s IMDA, Indonesia’s TKDN, and Indonesia’s SDPPI certification platforms.

Meanwhile, the 26012RN62L variant was recently certified by the FCC, which revealed several storage configurations. According to the listing, the phone is expected to be available in 4GB + 128GB, 6GB + 128GB, 6GB + 256GB, 6GB + 512GB, 8GB + 256GB, and 8GB + 512GB options.

Reports also suggest that another smartphone carrying the model number 26012PC62G could be a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 17 (4G), which may launch globally as the Poco M9 (4G). Rumours further indicate that the Redmi Note 17 (4G) and Poco M9 (4G) could be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 2 chipset.

While its specifications are yet to surface, reports claim that the upcoming Poco C95 Pro 4G bearing model number 2606FPC72Y could arrive as a rebadged version of the Redmi 17 (4G).

In a separate development, Xiaomi’s Redmi 17 5G with model number 26062RN92I and its Poco-branded counterpart with model number 26062PC92I have received certification from India’s BIS authority indicating that both devices are likely headed to the Indian market.

Earlier certification listings suggest the global version of the Redmi 17 (5G) could offer up to 8GB RAM, up to 256GB storage, a 7,500mAh battery and support for 45W fast charging.

What to Expect?

It remains unclear how Xiaomi plans to differentiate the Redmi Note 17, Redmi 17 and their Poco-branded counterparts especially with both 4G and 5G versions in development. More certifications and official announcements are expected to provide a clearer picture of the lineup and its market positioning.

The arrival of multiple 4G models could also be part of Xiaomi’s strategy to offer more affordable smartphones amid increasing memory and component costs.

As of now, there is no confirmation regarding the India launch of the Redmi Note 17 4G or Redmi 17 4G. However, the Redmi 17 5G has already secured BIS certification suggesting its India debut is likely. The Redmi Note 17 5G and its Poco variant have also received BIS approval and the remaining 5G models in the series are expected to obtain Indian certifications in the coming weeks.

Xiaomi is yet to announce an official India launch timeline for the lineup.
