Omate introduces Android powered Yumi, the personal robot with Amazon Alexa

Omate, the company which created a buzz in tech town after creating one of the first smartwatches powered completely by Android has again managed to get the limelight but with something a little different this time around.

Omate has created personal robot called Yumi. The small robot is powered by Android and one of highlights of Yumi is that the device features Amazon’s Alexa. Alexa allows Yumi to convert into Bluetooth speaker and a voice activated unit. Yumi (which looks absolutely adorable) is an 11.7 inch tall mobile robot. The head of the robot comes with a 5 inch touch screen display which can be used for commands and that too with a smile.

The robot comes with smartphone-like specifications, only with wheels and utterly cute aesthetics. Yumi is powered by a 1.4 GHz quad core Cortex A53 processor. It also sports 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage. Yumi can be connected to other devices via Bluetooth and also offers Wi-Fi connectivity. The robot also provides you with options like HDMI and micro USB ports in terms of connectivity options. Yumi also has a 5 megapixel front camera which can be used for making video calls and surveillance purposes. Yumi can also help you access all your Android applications.

But the robot by Omate lacks the ability to avoid objects and hurdles and is kind of apt to be stacked on a table or surface. The device which is funded by Indiegogo will hit the market in March 2017.
